Maryland Semi Auto Rifle Ban - Confused?

Having trouble figuring out what guns are banned and which ones aren't? Well, you're not alone. Trying to figure out what's legal and isn't legal could be a painful process simply due to parts of the copy-cat clause. Can't figure out if your M14 is legal? How about your M1a? It turns out though Maryland State Police have a somewhat helpful tool.

Check this out

The website has a drop down menu you can use to see what rifles are banned. Some of the guns on the drop down aren't banned, however. You'll notice the Springfield Armory M1a is banned but (as of this wringin) the Polytech M14 is legal. WTF? How is the M1a banned but the Polytech M14 NOT banned? Is the original semi-auto M14's banned? What about Fulton Armory's M14? Jesus Christ, Maryland?! Why does this have to be so fucking hard? All I want is an M14 or M1a!

Edit: The original semi auto M14 is banned along with the M1a but the Polytech M14 is legal due to the Polytech using a different bolt.
